Drawing with Gusto!

We’re not just learning how to draw. We are here to unleash what we can do. Try new approaches using charcoal and other materials to create a dialog. Scribble wildly, to learn more about expression. This is more about making your mark, finding out what is lurking beneath the skin. Draw with your heart and discover hidden talents and new aesthetics. We use written words in different ways to generate flow and uncover the subconscious. Drawings allow us to see and experience different ways of relating to the world around us. Bring (*You Bring…) and use a discarded item, or something you’ve found to incorporate in your drawings. Taking ques from these objects can inspire and challenge us. Deconstruct shapes and surfaces to generate new ideas, textures, stories; or push us to explore further. Is a drawing just a two-dimensional map, or can it reach further through space. The possibilities are endless and unpredictable.

Splatter-House Paintings Flow

The magic of a painting is something we can look into over time, discovering new perspectives, reactions and feelings. Color is fluid and dripping, so how do we control or release its potential, embrace the flow? Using a variety of paint mediums and methods we can explore abstract landscapes and create new visual insights. With unorthodox applications of brushing, stamping, splattering and layering we will play, build and discover the effects of color.

Pigs(pigments) in Space

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? - Let’s figure it out.

RE-Sculpting Giacometti’s Clay

Giacometti’s intuitive lean sculpture technique is a fun,  easy introduction to creating figurative work. The rawness of clay is provocative and expressive. We can imagine ourselves in formidable shapes or theatrical masks. We’ll explore different ways to represent the spirit inside.

Found-it Trash/Object Art and Conceptual Pickles

It’s not Trash!. And nothing is Disposable. Bring your own Found, or Discarded Item and turn it into an Object of Desire. Up-cycle/repurpose discarded or non-recyclable materials into something meaningful. Explore its surface, isolate interesting shapes, or change its identity. Confront your object. Explode it inside-out. Build its potential with paper maché or color and discover untapped potential. We can work through a dialog of metaphors to express a new story and abstract purpose. With seeds of creative subconsciousness we will create new life.
